Marco.org's Official Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard...
As I don’t have the luxury of having another machine and Leopard’s been working so well for me as of now. I’ll probably wait it out a bit before going Snow.

Upgrade when convenient. No rush.
My gadgets tend to work and not break.
Makes a lot of sense to me. I’ve always had a better awareness of my technology stuff because I mostly had to buy them with my own money.

A lot of people seem to have constant issues with their phones, computers, printers, hard drives, and other technology breaking or failing.
None of my technology ever breaks at the rate that I see from other people.
Even though it’s a bit...
Why Smart People Do Stupid Things →

Intelligence by itself doesn’t make you rational. Thinking rationally demands mental skills that some of us don’t have and many of us don’t use.
Today at the “neighborhood” mall, I saw a bunch of people watching a Michael Jackson concert on one of the TVs of a DVD shop. Reminds me a lot of the “neighborhood” mall back home.
If Matt Mullenweg was starting a bank today →
marco:
The name of my bank would be something supremely boring, like SafeBank. The idea behind it is that bad behaviour in the banking world has been largely inevitable because their compensation structures incented people to do overly risky things. SafeBank would maintain a reserve level 2-3x higher than Fed requirements and any other bank. SafeBank would have no bonuses. Critics would say...

Line To Heaven
A month from now, it’s gonna be a year since my father passed away. Yet, I miss him everyday. There’s so much I want to tell him — what I’ve been doing, what I’ve been planning during the past year, things that I know would make him proud of what I’ve become.
What I feel most days is summed up by this cheesy song I really used to like because it was sung by the...

What Makes You A Better Web Developer - Problem...
esbueno:
With multiple browsers, platforms, etc, problem solving is a must for any web developer.
Your footer that bitches about how your site doesn’t work in IE6 and you don’t care, tells me that you don’t know enough about your profession to make it work in IE6. Don’t whine that your code doesn’t work, figure out a way to make it work. There is more than one way to mark up a page.
No one...

Excellent follow-up by John Gruber.
This quote from Schiller is promising:
“Apple’s goals remain aligned with customers and developers — to create an innovative applications platform on the iPhone and iPod touch and to assist many developers in making as much great software as possible for the iPhone App Store. While we may not always be perfect in our execution of that goal, our...

Use ImageMagick on your webservers?
marco:
This thread just solved a big convert performance bottleneck for me, in which basic image operations (resize, sharpen, etc.) would take orders of magnitude more time than with older versions of ImageMagick and would saturate multiple CPU cores for far too long.
The symptom is easy to spot: you start seeing convert sticking around at the top of top with >100% CPU usage on servers with...

Almost Everything
Three weeks into using the iPhone 3G S⃣ and I’m not missing my E71 as much as I thought I would. There’s just so much the iPhone can do. I’ve relegated a lot of tasks I do on my MBP to the iPhone. Tasks that involve a lot of reading like light email, RSS, Twittering, ebooks and even IM. All of which is the bulk of what I do on my MBP outside coding/programming.
I wished the...
